Arab League Condemns Houthi Strikes on Najran, Calls for Yemen De-escalation

Arab League urges restraint after cross-border and domestic strikes

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy condemned attacks attributed to the Houthis that struck Saudi Arabia’s Najran region and referred to reported assaults on Yemeni military positions in Marib and Hadramout that caused deaths and injuries. In a statement posted on X, Fahmy warned that targeting Saudi territory and endangering civilians, along with continued military escalation in Yemen, poses a serious threat to regional security, undermines de-escalation efforts and jeopardizes prospects for a political settlement. He expressed the League’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and called for an end to the attacks and the ongoing escalation.

The statement followed Saudi-led coalition spokesman Brig. Gen. Turki al-Malki saying 11 civilians were injured in the Najran incident and the Yemeni Armed Forces’ Joint Operations Command reporting 17 soldiers and officers killed and others wounded in assaults involving ballistic missiles and drones in Hadramout and Marib. Fahmy urged restraint, an end to hostilities and a return to the political track to safeguard Saudi security and Yemen’s stability, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as reported by SANA
