The Junior Chamber International (JCI) – Old Damascus, together with the Bariq Educational Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism, launched the "Authenticity of the Soul" initiative in Damascus to combine art therapy with the city's archaeological heritage. Ninety-six young participants, including students and volunteers, took part in an interactive tour of Old Damascus that began at the statue of Saladin and concluded at the "Damascus: Rose and Heritage" exhibition, which features traditional crafts such as sculpture and pottery.

Goals and reactions

JCI vice president Mohammad Hannou described the project as a move toward sustainable tourism that links mental-health support with cultural sites, while Project Director Sarah Saad said the main aim is to improve psychological well-being by increasing awareness of cultural heritage. Psychologist Dr. Lina Al-Tahhan called the activity a journey of self-discovery that fosters cultural responsibility; participants praised the blend of therapy and identity work, and JCI said it will continue empowering youth through similar cultural and developmental programs as reported by SANA
