Deir Ezzor airport poised to resume operations
Deir Ezzor International Airport has finished the core phases of its rehabilitation and is now operationally ready to receive flights, Airport Director Firas al-Azzawi told SANA. The project was completed in a record timeframe under continuous supervision by the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport and through the efforts of the airport’s technical and administrative staff, allowing the facility to meet approved technical and operational requirements and high safety standards. Final operational and administrative procedures are currently underway ahead of a planned reopening at the beginning of August.
The General Authority has announced that Jazeera Airways will begin regular direct flights between Kuwait and Deir Ezzor on Aug. 8, part of measures to strengthen air links with Kuwait and expand travel options for passengers. Officials say the resumption of services is expected to restore commercial connectivity to the region and facilitate travel and transport, as reported by SANA
