Arrests and evidence
Syrian Internal Security forces announced the arrest of three brothers — Akram, Farzat and Ghiyath Shamma — accused of involvement in the detention and execution of 15 unarmed civilians during the uprising. Authorities said investigations, supported by indications and video footage, show victims bound and blindfolded, forced at gunpoint to praise the deposed regime, then shot; the suspects reportedly admitted responsibility for the recorded material.
Legal follow-up and wider pursuit
Legal reports have been prepared and the detainees will be referred to the competent judiciary for prosecution. The statement noted earlier arrests on July 30 of Fayez Abbas Akhal and Nasr Mohammad Ghossn for alleged war crimes in Homs countryside and reiterated the Interior Ministry’s commitment to pursue former regime members, prevent impunity and support transitional justice and victims’ rights, as reported by SANA
