Syria, Airbus and France explore civil aviation cooperation in Damascus

Damascus meeting on civil aviation

Omar al‑Hosari, head of the Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, met in Damascus with Jean‑Baptiste Faivre, Chargé d’Affaires of the French Embassy, and a delegation from Airbus to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation in civil aviation and air transport. The talks, held at the Authority’s headquarters, focused on potential technical and technological partnerships aimed at modernizing Syria’s aviation infrastructure.

Both sides said the discussions were part of the Authority’s wider push to upgrade infrastructure, raise operational efficiency to approved international standards, and support plans to expand the national air transport sector. They emphasized strengthening communication and exchanging expertise to meet modern technical and operational requirements; Airbus, founded in 1970 and based in Toulouse, was noted as a leading global aircraft manufacturer. as reported by SANA
