A high-level delegation from Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates visited Damascus for talks with Syria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. In a series of general and bilateral sessions the two sides explored frameworks for expanding cooperation on international affairs and consular issues, stressing the need to modernize existing agreements to reflect recent regional shifts and move beyond previous diplomatic deadlocks and regional isolation linked to the deposed regime.
On the sidelines of the visit, Mohammad al-Omar, Director of the Consular Department at the Syrian Ministry, met his Moroccan counterpart to review mechanisms to streamline consular procedures for their expatriate communities and to establish technical coordination channels to enhance bureaucratic and administrative exchanges between the departments, as reported by SANA
