Syria demands immediate Israeli pullback during UN chief's Damascus visit

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani urged Israel to withdraw immediately and unconditionally from southern Syria during a press conference with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Damascus. The call came as Guterres was in the capital for talks with Syrian officials.

Guterres also held a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa during the visit, highlighting direct UN engagement on regional security and the Israeli presence in the south.
