Syrian-Spanish Business Council established
Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al-Shaar issued a decree creating the Syrian‑Spanish Business Council on the Syrian side and appointed Maher al-Safi as its chairman. A copy of the decree obtained by SANA states the council will function according to the bylaws that govern Syrian joint business councils with partner countries, providing an institutional framework for bilateral economic cooperation.
The announcement follows a series of recent diplomatic and economic moves by Minister al-Shaar: on March 15 the ministry finalized the structures for Syrian‑Italian and Syrian‑Lebanese Business Councils. These bodies are intended to coordinate trade, facilitate investment and develop joint ventures between Syrian entrepreneurs and international counterparts as reported by SANA
