The Syrian Embassy in Washington strongly condemned the shooting at the San Diego Islamic Center, which left multiple people dead and injured, including Syrian nationals. The Monday attack initially killed three people — one an on-duty security guard — and wounded others. US investigators later found the two main suspects dead in a vehicle; officials say the deaths appear to be suicides.
In a statement posted on X, the embassy praised the swift action of US and local law enforcement, expressed confidence in the ongoing investigations and legal follow-up, and extended condolences and solidarity to the victims’ families and the American people. The mission also renewed a call to counter racism and hate speech and to protect religious freedoms and peaceful coexistence, as reported by SANA
